Holy Trinity the Church in the square built in the 15th and early 16th century, the chancel being rebuilt in 1863, is well worth a visit.

Radio Devon on 103.4 - well worth a listen if you are in the area. They keep you posted on the traffic conditions and tell you what’s on and where. If you manage to catch Judi Spiers on every week day morning - you’ll be set up for the day. They won’t tell you about The Drewe Arms - you’ll have to come and find out for yourself!

Spinster’s Rock

The Notice reads:
" A Neolithic burial chamber erected around 3500-2500 BC. This chamber probably contained many burials and would originally have been covered by a long earthen mound. The stones fell down in 1862 and were re-erected in the same year. Traditionally this monument was erected by three spinsters one morning before breakfast"
Could they really mean spinners - they were taking the wool they had recently spun to market - and surely it was after breakfast at The Drewe Arms - that stone is 5’ 7’’ off the ground and weighs sixteen tons!
